It’s another great week at the Jeffersontown Chamber, which has been connecting businesses since 1969. On the calendar, next Wednesday is the Business Blast at Wildwood Country Club, and the next day is the annual BOOM (Best of our Members) Luncheon. The deadline for the Going Beyond Scholarship nominations is June 1. One of the last year’s recipients is well-known in Chamber circles — it’s “Famous Shelly” Gardner of Famous Dave’s, who explains that the scholarship helped her complete a Master Degree at U of L. The scholarship is designed to help Chamber members continue their path in higher education, and Shelly is a perfect example.
Elsewhere, Sunday is a big event for a Chamber sister organization- the Louisville Independent Business Alliance. LIBA, which brought the slogan “Keep Louisville Weird” to the city many years ago, has an ongoing mission that’s similar to the Chamber’s — promoting member businesses. The Buy Local Fair at the Water Tower has become a huge annual event attracting as many as 8,000 people. Executive Director Jennifer Rubenstein tells you what it’s all about.
