Summer’s in full swing in Jeffersontown, and it was a good day to drop in on Jeffersontown Chamber president John Cosby at his office on Watterson Trail. John was gearing up for a flurry of great events that we talked about — starting with this week’s popular Business Blast. This time it’s Wednesday night at Johnny V’s downtown. But what John is really proud of is the upcoming Going Beyond Scholarship Breakfast, in which four $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to Chamber members for continuation of their education. Also in July, there’s a Golf Trail outing at Wildwood Country Club and a chance to see the Louisville Bats at Slugger Field with all your Chamber friends.
One of Mayor Bill Dieruf’s biggest issues is the scourge of heroin addiction on our city, and he comes on the show to talk about an upcoming Community Conversation on that topic in advance of the launch of the Angel Project in August.
Our special guest is Scott Martin, director of the 21st Century Parks project. Scott’s office is just off Taylorsville Road at the parks entrance, and he explains the progress of the mammoth park that stretches from Shelbyville Road to Bardstown Road, including a 19-mile stretch of bike trail. There’s also a special relationship between the Parks system and the city of Jeffersontown. It’s all right here on the Jeffersontown Chamber podcast, sponsored by Signarama Louisville East and the city of Jeffersontown.
