LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 22, 2015) - - - My Morning Jacket drummer Patrick Hallahan, high-stakes lawyer Jon Salomon and award-winning chef Bobby Benjamin will open new restaurant Butchertown Grocery this November in Louisville. Friends Salomon and Hallahan have traveled extensively in their careers, whether it’s arranging state visits for President Clinton or headlining major concert venues, and look to bring a world-class dining destination home to the buzzing Butchertown neighborhood. By recruiting Benjamin to helm the kitchen, and assembling a dynamic team that includes acclaimed beverage director Marie Zahn, chef de cuisine Tina Dyer and assistant general manager Derric Perkins, they launch their vision for a neighborhood venue with an extraordinary food and beverage program, matched by unparalleled hospitality.
Located at 1076 East Washington Street in the heart of the historic Butchertown neighborhood, the ambitious bar and restaurant will focus on seasonality, sourcing and technique to offer refined but approachable fare. An urbane cocktail bar and performance space upstairs will offer late-night bites, finely-crafted drinks and endless possibilities for impromptu music and art.

The Butchertown Grocery team includes:

Bobby Benjamin, executive chef and partner
Benjamin’s philosophy is simple, like his food. Respect ingredients, cook with integrity and be honest on the plate. While it is hard to define the range in Benjamin’s menu at Butchertown Grocery, the connecting factor is that every dish is deeply personal and reflects a point in his life where good food made a lasting impact. Benjamin paid his dues in top kitchens across the country and earned his culinary degree but his perseverance, drive and obvious talent are what made him the perfect partner to helm this restaurant with Salomon and Hallahan.

Patrick Hallahan, partner
Hallahan is a professional musician who’s always been equally fascinated by food as art. Many know him as the drummer for hometown heroes My Morning Jacket, but at Butchertown Grocery he’s applying his creative spirit to curating an entirely different medium. Fellow partner and friend Jon Salomon saw Hallahan’s love for art and passion for cultivating the collective experience as a way to bring a unique character and soul to the restaurant and performance space. Hallahan has had a steady hand in designing Butchertown Grocery to support creative endeavors of all kinds.
