Louisville Ky’s Farnsley-Moremen takes Holidays back in time

Louisville, KY – Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing will host an “Old-Fashioned Family Holiday Festival” on December 5, from 2 to 7 p.m.

This community holiday celebration will include photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Clause, who will arrive by Horse-drawn wagon at 3 p.m. and visit with guests until close. Other festivities include holiday craft activities for children and musical performances by area church and school choirs, as well as Horse-drawn wagon rides and drawings for holiday wreaths.

As part of the event, families can stroll through dozens of colorful illuminated holiday scenes surrounding the venue’s Visitors Center. Riverside’s Museum Store will be also be offering unique local holiday gift items. The circa 1837 Farnsley-Moremen House will be decorated for the season in an historically authentic fashion, with volunteers in period costume leading free tours of the home from 2 to 5 p.m.

Admission and activities are free to the public. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be available for purchase. Proceeds from refreshment sales will benefit Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, Inc.

The “Old-Fashioned Family Holiday Festival” is presented by the Dixie Area Business Association. Additional sponsors include LG&E and KU, Southwest Regional Library, Leanhart Plumbing, Dignity Memorial, and Fort Knox Federal Credit Union. Visitors are encouraged to bring a toy for “Toys for Tots” at the event.

Regular Hours of Operation: Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing is open for guided tours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from December 1 through March 1. Riverside is closed on Sundays and Mondays during the winter. Admission for house tours: $6/adults; $5/seniors; $3/children (ages 6-12); Children 5 and under are free. Family Rate: $15 (2 adults with up to 3 children).

Directions to Riverside: Take I-65 to the Gene Snyder Freeway West. Go approximately 9 miles on the Gene Snyder. After crossing over Dixie Highway, take a left at the stop light onto Lower River Road. The entrance to Riverside will be on your right after about 1/8 mile.
