2012 Consumer Electronics Show. I wish I was there!.

I love technology, even more than that I love you technology. When I was a reporter for TV, I used to make a yearly pilgrimage to the consumer electronics show. Nowadays (as a Louisville realtor )I can only read about it or watch video feeds from it.

This year there are more than 3100 companies showing off 20,000 new products. There is no way to come up a list of the top 10 products being introduced this year, at least not yet (check back next week). But here are some items worth talking about.

Toshiba is showing off a new 55 inch 3-D TV that is going to be sold in Germany and Japan.  What makes this TV new is that you don’t any glasses to see the 3-D effect. Having just bought two 3-D TVs that require active  glasses, I’m not only jealous but angry that I didn’t wait longer.

Speaking of 3-D, The Z10000, Panasonic’s first twin-lens 3D camcorder, extends Panasonic’s commitment to 3D content creation. The camcorder shoots professional-quality 2D/3D videos with a technically-advanced design featuring a 3D LCD screen with no glasses needed.

Visio is now getting in to the computer market. They’ve been making flat screen TVs for years but now have decided to go one better and go head-to-head with other manufacturers of computers.

The new Sony Tablet S is the tablet that breaks the mold. Inspired by a folded magazine, Tablet S is ergonomically designed and balanced to feel light and comfortable in the hand. The problem is can it really compete with the iPad.

Here’s a cool piece of new technology… The WiPNET layers a Wi-Fi and Ethernet network over the top of your coax cabling while maintaining all TV services. Simply replace existing TV wallplates with in-wall WiPNET ports. Each WiPNET delivers exceptional wired and wireless access.

Kodak is back at (hopefully they don’t file for bankruptcy), The next generation of the Best of Innovation award-winning KODAK PLAYSPORT Video Camera is three-proof: waterproof, shockproof and dustproof. Capturing 1080p HD video and 5MP still images. I have their older version the Kodak Zi8 and love it!

More to come… As I watch the feeds and read the releases!
