LOUISVILLE, KY – On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, NBA Legend Allan Houston will partner with Mayor Greg Fischer, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, Metro Parks and Recreation, the Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods, EverFi, Inc., and special guests to launch the Allan Houston Mentoring Initiative, an ongoing mentoring program designed to pair positive role models with youth facing adversity throughout the city of Louisville.
Through this collaborative approach to youth development, the Allan Houston Mentoring Initiative will provide participants with structured activities and clinic-style basketball workshops twice a week, along with access to a digital African American History course.
“It’s exciting to be able to come home and launch the Allan Houston Mentoring Initiative. While growing up in Louisville, I was blessed to have impactful mentors, including my father, that guided me through life. This is why I am proud to be a part of the continuing effort being made by the city of Louisville and several local organizations to support and mentor our youth,” stated Allan Houston. The primary goal of the initiative is to provide the framework that will help more children achieve lifelong success.
