Louisville Orchestra brings Pink Martini to Louisville Ky next week

 

Louisville, KY (March 3, 2016) … The Louisville Orchestra brings internationally celebrated “suave salon orchestra” (New York Times) Pink Martini, to the Kentucky Center on Saturday, March 19 at 8 p.m. The twelve-musician group Pink Martini joins Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt and the Louisville Orchestra for a cocktail of Latin-rhythms, bouncy pop favorites, and glamorous smoky ballads. Described as an “around-the-world musical adventure,” Pink Martini’s vast repertoire is sure to bring audiences to their feet. Featuring a dozen musicians, Pink Martini performs its multilingual repertoire on concert stages and with symphony orchestras throughout Europe, Asia, Greece, Turkey, the Middle East, Northern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and North America. Pink Martini made its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 and its orchestral debut with the Oregon Symphony in 1998 under the direction of Norman Leyden. With more than three decades of experience as a Music Director, conductor of Pops, and in the opera pit, Louisville Orchestra Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt continues to bring his unique combination of easy style, infectious enthusiasm, and wonderful musicianship to the city and orchestra he loves. Bernhardt holds a Masters degree from the University of Southern California’s School of Music where he studied with Daniel Lewis. His two children, Alex and Charlotte, live in Seattle.
