Hotly anticipated Mex-Mex restaurant will serve lunch, dinner and brunch
 
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 17, 2016) — Doc’s Cantina, 1201 River Rd., will open to the public Tuesday, April 5. The Mex-Mex inspired restaurant located at the foot of the Big Four Bridge will serve lunch, dinner and brunch. Hours areMonday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Falls City Hospitality Group (FCHG) corporate chef Jonathan Schwartz and executive chef Nick Platt created the menu featuring items traditionally found in Mexico. Examples include sopes, tinga chicken or grilled beef tongue tacos, chuleta and shrimp a la Diabla. Dishes will come with a variety of house-made salsas and hot sauces. Brunch options like blue corn waffles with candied jalapeno butter, cinnamon buns with orange jam and chilaquiles verdes will be available Saturday and Sunday. Prices range from $5 to 11 for appetizers; $11 to 14 for three tacos with a side of rice and beans; $9 to 14 for sandwiches; and $12 to 26 for entrees. The bar menu includes a variety of scratch-made margaritas made with Lunazul Blanco tequila and fresh squeezed lime juice as well as sangria made with Louisville’s Copper & Kings brandy. Both are available by the glass or pitcher. House cocktails will feature the restaurant’s own private barrel selection of mezcal. Diners can also enjoy a South of the Border twist on classics like Old Fashioneds, Manhattans and mint juleps. The April 5 opening date allows the restaurant to take reservations for Thunder Over Louisville. For $180 per person, guests will get all day access to the prime seating inside or on the patio and the full menu. Alcohol and parking are not included. Doc’s Cantina is the second Louisville restaurant for FCHG which owns and operates the highly regarded Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar on Whiskey Row and social-concept steak house Union Common in Nashville. This new venture features a private dining room for large groups, 64 patio seats and stunning views of the Ohio River from nearly every chair in the two story space. Both the interior and exterior are painted in vibrant colors evoking the spirit of authentic cantinas found in Mexico. Murals by local artist Chris Chappell cover the inside walls. Louisville-native Monica Mahoney was commissioned to build a 15-foot agave light sculpture powered by smart light bulbs that greets guests.
