LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 11, 2016) – Kentucky Derby Museum is now offering the Around the Track Golf Cart tour, the superfecta of tours! Hop aboard the Museum’s deluxe golf cart and experience a whole new way to see Churchill Downs Racetrack. The tour is limited to just six guests, making it feel like your own personal tour of the track.
Led by a knowledgeable Kentucky Derby Museum guide, the tour departs from the outside grounds, travels through the Paddock, and then heads rail side to take in the Horses’ morning workout on the track. Next, guests will ride through the famous infield tunnels to get up close and personal with the bustling life on the backside of the track and view the barns that were once the temporary home to Thoroughbred legends like Secretariat, Barbaro and American Pharoah. The tour wraps up with lunch in the Post Time Kitchen, with an unparalleled view of the track and famed Twin Spires. Following lunch, guests will return to the Museum to take in two floors of interactive exhibits and the 360° immersive media experience, The Greatest Race.
“Taking in the beautiful and historic grounds of Churchill Downs Racetrack on a golf cart is a one-of-kind way to experience all that the track has to offer, with access to areas many visitors never get to see. We are excited to offer this exclusive way to enjoy the Home of the Kentucky Derby in a whole new light,” Kentucky Derby Museum President Patrick Armstrong said.
The half-day tour, including lunch, runs from 8 a.m. – noon. The Around the Track Golf Cart Tour is available Monday–Saturday, fromApril 11- May 2 and May 9-14. The cost of the tour is $225 per person during Derby Season. From May 16- November 30 the cost of the tour is $99 per person. The Around the Track Golf Cart Tour is limited to six guests each day. Everyone participating in this tour must be at least 10 years old.
