LouisvilleKY to host Cropped Out Festival this September

Cropped Out aims to celebrate a select fistful of contemporary musicians, artists, and artisans whom we feel reflect a greater undercurrent of sonic, visual, and conceptual exploration.

L0uisville, KY., –  Just when you thought space was quiet, one of the most adventurous festivals in the US is back. Cropped Out takes place September 23rd and 24th, 2016 at the American Turners Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Since 2011, the festival has celebrated boundary-pushing artists who subvert the mainstream, simultaneously giving Louisville its due as a prime incubator of underground music. After all, this is the city that birthed Slint, Will Oldham, My Morning Jacket, Marshall Allen, and Rachel’s. Local and touring acts from around the world meet at Cropped Out, offering a space for artists to join and celebrate the current state of new music. In the festival’s own words, “It is our intention to turn heads toward the talents of those often omitted, overlooked, or cropped out of ‘the big picture.’”

Headliners this year include The Dead C, Bitchin’ Bajas and Bonnie Prince Billy, Kool Keith, Bill Callahan, and Pissed Jeans. Trance out, punch walls, and cry heartily into your drink. Early bird tickets are available locally at Fat Rabbit and Guestroom Records, or online, for $60 ($90 for those who are planning on camping). Bands, local artists, food trucks, beer, vendors, basketball, and bonfires provide plenty to do for the weekend.

This year’s festival promises the biggest reach towards the public consciousness, or at least into the consciousness of anyone who cares about what’s going on in the underground.
