Actors Theatre of Louisville kicks off the 2016-2017 Professional Training Company Season with the Solo Mios, September 16 – 17, October 14 – 15 and November 4 – 5

 Louisville, KY – Artistic Director Les Waters and Managing Director Kevin E. Moore are proud to present the 2016-2017 Solo Mios. These three rounds of solo pieces, which mark the beginning of the Professional Training Company’s season, are entirely written and performed by members of the Acting Apprentice Company. The Solo Mios will take place September 16 at 2 p.m. and September 17 at 10 a.m. (Solo Mio #1)October 14 2 p.m. and October 15 at 10 a.m. (Solo Mio #2), and November 4 2 p.m. and November 5 at 10 a.m. (Solo Mio #3) in the Victor Jory Theater.

The first component of The Professional Training Company season, the Solo Mios are a three-part series of short solo performances entirely written and performed by the Acting Apprentices. The Solo Mio series allows actors, directors, and dramaturgs to explore the creation and implementation of new work in a workshop environment. In preparation for this process, this season’s apprentices participated in a series of classes with the New York based theatre ensemble, The Mad Ones.

The Solo Mios will feature Acting Apprentices Carter Caldwell, Andres Chaves, Andrew Cutler, Jennifer Geiger, Abby Huffstetler, Daniel Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Elijah Jones, Kevin Kantor, Sam Kotansky, Anna Lentz, Kathiamarice Lopez, Laakan McHardy, Alexandra Milak, Regan Moro, Grace Palmer, Jake Sabinsky, Anne-Marie Trabolsi, Sam Wisenden, and Alice Wu.

Now in its 45th year, the Professional Training Company (formerly the Apprentice/Intern Company) is one of the cornerstones of Actors Theatre’s commitment to education. The Professional Training Company is a one-of-a-kind immersive program designed to transition recent college graduates into careers by teaching both the business and the art of being a theatre professional. Members of the Company work directly with Actors Theatre artistic and administrative leaders, as well as visiting guest artists, to receive hands-on training in their respective fields. As one of the oldest pre-professional programs of its kind, the Professional Training Company is comprised of 39 diverse individuals who are the next generation of theatre artists and administrators.

Actors Theatre’s Professional Training Company receives funding from The Roy Cockrum Foundation.  Founded by Roy Cockrum, the Foundation supports world-class performing arts projects in not-for-profit professional theatres throughout the United States. The Foundation considers grants by invitation only and is dedicated to helping nonprofit theaters reach beyond their normal scope of activities and undertake ambitious and creative productions.
