A cheesy, bourbon-soaked bet: Mayors wager on LouisvilleKY’s game between Cards and Clemson

Mayor Fischer encourages Louisville residents to wear red

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 29, 2016) — Mayor Greg Fischer is so confident of a Louisville Cardinals victory this Saturday against Clemson that he’s putting a bottle of bourbon on the line. Meanwhile, Clemson Mayor J.C. Cook is offering…ummm…cheese.
The mayors today announced a friendly wager on the game Saturday that pits the No. 3 Cardinals against the No. 5 Tigers.
The winner will be in commanding position to win the Atlantic Coast Conference and to earn a spot in the college football playoffs. The game in Clemson, S.C., will also be the second time the Cardinals will be featured on ESPN’s College GameDay this season

If the Tigers win, Mayor Fischer will send a bottle of bourbon to Mayor Cook. If the Cardinals win, Mayor Cook will send Mayor Fischer a wheel of Clemson blue cheese.
“This is one cheesy bet,” Mayor Fischer said. “But I look forward to winning.”

“We welcome and look forward to all the Louisville fans coming to the City of Clemson and Clemson University,” Mayor Cook said. “I attended the Clemson-Louisville game in Louisville last year and was welcomed by your fan base. I believe that Tiger fans here will welcome all your fans with open arms and we look forward to a great contest.
“Bring on your red attire to be mixed in a giant sea of orange and I look forward to enjoying Mayor Fischer’s bottle of bourbon at later date, as I know that Mayor Fischer is expecting the delicious wheel of Clemson Blue Cheese!”
Kickoff will be at 8 p.m. in Clemson, S.C.
