LOUISVILLE, KY (OCTOBER 13, 2017) -Engineers, artists, scientists, and crafters will unite at Fourth Street Live! to share their innovations and ideas. Makers will be present from noon-5pm to present their experiments, projects, and hobbies on Saturday, October 21st. This is a family-friendly event until 5pm, and then Big Kid fun will begin at 6pm
for those 21+.
The 5th annual Louisville Mini Maker Faire has created a new partnership with Fourth Street Live! this year, as the event continues to grow. The Mini Maker Fair has previously been held in union with Nulu Fest and at West Main Street’s Museum Row.
In 2006, the editors of _Make: Magazine_ set out to complete a project, in the San Francisco Bay Area, which successfully became the first ever Maker Faire. About five years ago, chatter began about creating a similar innovative fair in Louisville. The stars seemed to align as a dinner with Louisville native, Dale Dougherty (_Make: Magazine’s
_founder and leader of the Maker Movement), led to the formation of Louisville’s own Mini Maker Faire.
“The Louisville Mini Maker Faire has been such a success over the past five years and we plan to keep the momentum going” said Ed Hartless, President of Fourth Street Live!. “We are enthusiastic about this partnership as it gives us the opportunity to be a part of such innovation and inspire those in our community to be makers themselves.”
Family-friendly attractions from noon-5pm will include: glassblowing, forging, aluminum casting, appliance innovations, AV/VR extravaganza, drones, Newton’s Attic’s GForce, robotics, and much more! Also a variety of booths will be filled with projects and items made by companies, individuals, and schools.
Big Kid fun (21+) is scheduled for 6pm-10pm and will include music, breweries pouring their suds, the chance for adults to go in-depth with a number of exhibits, and the opportunity to visit and grab a bite to eat or drink at the surrounding Fourth Street Live! restaurants and bars.
