Louisville businesses give about the same amount to non-profits are our peer cities, but when it comes to health care, it’s a different story.
Kevin Connelly’s talk at the Breakfast of Champions this morning focused on the importance of non-profits in the local economy. He heads the Center for Non Profit Excellence, a local organization of more than 350 members, many of which were represented in the crowd of more than 50 who showed up to hear his talk.
Connelly’s statistical analysis showed Louisville ranked about where you’d expect a city of our size to be when it comes to non-profit revenue, but moved up to 4th of 15 cities in health care activity.
In stressing the importance of the non-profit community, he emphasized that most non-profit ventures cross party lines, and that causes bring government and business together.
Connelly’s presentation included information from the Greater Louisville Project, and emphasized the importance of non-profits in achieving community-wide goals, specifically the 55,000 Degrees project to increase the number of college degrees granted locally.
