February was very good to WLKY-TV.
In the several years I’ve been following local ratings, I don’t recall any station having a better month than the CBS affiliate did in February. According to Nielsen numbers, WLKY won every significant time period in local news head-t0-head competition in the 25-54 age group, considered the most important overall demographic to advertisers.
Even in the early evenings news, where WHAS-TV has, in most ratings periods, finished first, WLKY-TV won at 5, 5:30 and 6. In mornings, from 6-7, there was a virtual tie with WHAS, but that’s been a virtual lock for WHAS in many previous ratings periods.
And as good as the numbers are for WHAS, it was a tough month for WAVE, which finished 3rd in every time period, and it posted an especially dismal number from 12-1, where it launched its new Live at 725 talk show.

In Other Station News: Karen Roby, who joined WLKY in 2009 as a part-time reporter, has been promoted to the weekend anchor slot. Roby is a Louisville native who went to school at the University of Tennessee. She later worked as a reporter in Hazard.
