A Paris Baguette franchise is coming to Northfield in May

I saw the following comment online, and it’s the most appropriate way I can imagine to introduce today’s pressing topic.

I tried Paris Baguette yesterday and it was AMAZING!! There were so many delicious looking options that it was hard to narrow it down. Guess that means I’ll regularly have to go back so I can let you know what’s good. Don’t worry, I’m willing to do that for you. If you saw my stories, you know this little fruit pastry was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. It’s next to the fancy new Chipotle.

The phrase “fancy new Chipotle” amuses me to such a great degree that not being able to remember the exact exurban locale in question (Annapolis MD, perhaps?) doesn’t even matter.

Let’s get into this, shall we?

Paris Baguette, which refers to itself as “your favorite neighborhood bakery cafe,” was founded in 1988 in a neighborhood on the other side of the planet, in South Korea.

Note that there is no such place as Paris, South Korea.

Coincidentally, your neighborhood Paris Baguette’s parent company also is South Korean: SPC Group, the owner of the all-American concepts Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’.

Paris Baguette’s global footprint includes 4,000 locations, including almost 300 in the United States, aiming for 1,000 in North America by 2030.

According to Michael L. Jones at Louisville Business First, “Paris Baguette is opening its first Louisville location in a former bank at 4957 Brownsboro Road in May.”

That’s in Louisville’s Northfield neighborhood. In the meantime, co-franchisee Mahwish Ijaz told Jones, “After years in the restaurant and service industry, I was looking for a concept that aligned with both quality and long-term growth. I was drawn to Paris Baguette’s strong brand reputation, operational support system and community-focused model. I believe it fills a unique space in Louisville.”
