LOUISVILLE – Valley Station residents are finally getting their Cracker Barrel Old Country Store®.

After almost eight years of consideration and planning, ground is being broken on the property at Dixie Highway and Bethany Lane this morning. The project is expected to be completed by mid-July.

Flynn Brothers is the general contractor. Financing is being provided by Stock Yards Bank. The developer is Thieneman Real Estate. The restaurant is being built on a six-acre site at Dixie Highway and Bethany Lane, just north of the Greenbelt Highway.

Jim Torcivia, Vice President of Real Estate for Cracker Barrel, said the new restaurant is in an ideal location. “We are very pleased to be joining the Valley Station community and like to believe that our new location will be popular with residents of the area, and will attract guests from throughout South Louisville and beyond. We look forward to providing an excellent Cracker Barrel experience for people who already know us, and for new guests as well.”

“We’re happy to bring this great restaurant to Valley Station,” said Chris Thieneman, of Thieneman Real Estate. “We believe that because of the quality of Cracker Barrel, this will attract even more high quality businesses. It’s going to be great for Valley Station to get a Cracker Barrel, because it’s something residents have wanted for years.”

Bob Heuglin, a manager with Thieneman Real Estate, said the project has been in the works for almost eight years.  “Because of the endeavors of the Thieneman family, who didn’t give up on the project, I’m glad this day has finally arrived.  This is great for Dixie and Valley Station. We’ve been positive all along and never gave up. Knowing the history of Cracker Barrel, they spur other businesses to invest and expand nearby. Valley Station welcomes the Cracker Barrel family to our community.”

This will be the fourth area location for the Lebanon, Tenn.-based restaurant and retail chain, which has been a guest favorite for many years. Others are at 1401 Kentucky Mills Drive in Jeffersontown, 2701 Crittenden Dr. near I-65 in Louisville, 10150 Brookridge Village Blvd. in Fern Creek.  There are 32 Cracker Barrel locations in Kentucky.
