Louisville, Ky., – The Speed kicks off its 90th anniversary year with a Community Celebration on Saturday, January 21 from 10 am – 10 pm, with dynamic performances, art making, gallery talks, and of course, cake.

Throughout the day, there will be an exciting lineup of performers. Come and enjoy Teddy Abrams, the Kentucky Opera and Louisville Ballet, the University of Louisville Steel Drum Band, Louisville Dance Alliance, Squallis Puppeteers, Louisville Free Public Library, Twin Limb, DJ Grey, James Lindsey & the Grand Nationals, among others.

James Lindsey (formerly known as Jalin Roze) will also be a special guest performer at the celebration. The performance will double as a release party for his upcoming EP, “Same Sky,” which will be released on Friday, 1/20/17, on sonaBLAST! Records.

James Lindsey

Lindsey and his producer Joshua Nicholson have been working on this highly anticipated eight-track EP for the better part of two years. A preview of the lead single, “Wanna Shine? (ft. Otis Junior)” earned 3,000 streams on SoundCloud in 24 hours, several blog write-ups, and is now available on iTunes (http://apple.co/2iMRGTu) and Spotify (http://spoti.fi/2ikTu50) as of 1/6/17.
James will perform the entire EP and more at 8:00pm on 1/21/17 at the Speed with his live band, The Grand Nationals, and special guests. This will be a big day for Louisville hip hop – since breaking onto the scene in 2012, Lindsey has consistently been acclaimed for his originality and uncanny storytelling chops. Louisville hip hop fans [James Lindsey included] have been waiting years for this record, and it’s finally time!
