LMPD has officially found its man, as Mayor Fischer announces this morning that currently Glendale, AZ Chief, and former LMPD Asst. Chief Steve Conrad has been selected for the job. His official start date is March 19th.
Asked if he would maintain the current command staff, Conrad said he has total faith in them and asked them to stay.
Mayor Fischer officially offered Conrad the job this past Saturday.
Louisvilleky.gov quotes the mayor as saying of Conrad, “he has the qualities to lead Louisville to being the safest city in America.”
“I’m excited about the future. I’m excited to be back,” says Conrad.

There will be a new chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department in less than an hour, as Mayor Greg Fischer is set to announce his permanent choice for the position with a special press conference this morning (Tues, Feb 21) at 10:30am.
The press conference will be held in the Mayor’s Gallery of Metro Hall and immediately following the announcement the new chief will visit all eight LMPD divisions in numeric order.
