Brooks Wicker will run for Congress

John Yarmuth won’t run unopposed when he tries to keep his 3rd Congressional District seat next year. Today Brooks Wicker, a Republican and a CPA, announced he would challenge the three-term Democrat in 2012.

He will be a guest on Mandy Connell’s radio show this morning at 10.

A lot can happen before the 2012 elections. Wicker is the first to step up to challenge Yarmuth, whose profile in Washington is growing.

Here’s what Wicker’s saying to introduce himself on his new website.

Like you, I keep asking, ‘What is going on in this country?’ Never in my lifetime have so many bad decisions been made at such a crucial time in our nation’s history. Whether it’s partisan gridlock in Congress or the bad economic policies being issued from the White House, Washington’s prescription always seems to be too much too soon or not enough too slowly. It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Our bridges crumble, our schools spring leaks. Empty houses stand where friends used to live. Joblessness is rampant. People need help and Louisville’s current representation in Congress isn’t getting the job done. We need someone to find solutions to real problems that affect you the citizens of the Third District.
