A fire this afternoon at the Cardinal Towne Leasing Office, which resides near the development, will not affect the opening date of Cardinal Towne, scheduled for August 15, 2011. The leasing office at 1806 South Third Street, located almost one block north of Cardinal Towne, sustained damage today. There were no injuries. This event will not affect ongoing Cardinal Towne campus construction.
“This was due to a contractor error while performing welding duties on the Cardinal Towne leasing office itself, and is no reflection on our quality control, or construction procedures. The contractor is taking full responsibility for the damage to the leasing office,” said Cardinal Towne Property Manager Rick Laemmle. “Whittenberg Construction Company was not the general contractor on this portion of the work as the fire occurred in the historic renovation of the leasing office,” he added.
A temporary leasing office offsite will be open tomorrow morning. All those interested in speaking to the property manager regarding lease arrangements, may call either 502-475-5000 or 502-664-1180, or go to www.cardinaltowne.com for more information.
Cardinal Towne construction and day-to-day operations will continue as planned, uninterrupted by this event at Louisville’s newest student community. The site anticipates offering the “ultimate in urban campus living,” steps away from U of L’s Belknap campus with private bedrooms and baths in all units and state-of-the-art amenities, including a swimming pool, fitness center, on-site shopping and restaurants.
