Chef Space garners federal grant money to assist in small business development

One of my first assignments as a Food & Dining Magazine feature writer was to profile Chef Space, an article published in the Spring 2018 print issue.

There have been personnel changes at Chef Space since then, but the article still provides an informative overview.

Recently Chef Space was back in the news cycle with an important grant award, as noted at WHAS11.

Chef Space has successfully graduated over 65 businesses, all of them food-related. They have also had 12 businesses graduate to their own brick-and-mortar stores.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A space in West Louisville is helping keep small businesses alive, and a federal grant awarded Tuesday will allow them to expand even further.

The West Louisville’s Chef Space invites chefs and entrepreneurs to the Russell neighborhood.

Congressman John Yarmuth visited the space Tuesday, and gave them $330,000 in federal funding.

Chef Space has successfully graduated over 65 businesses, all of them food-related. They have also had 12 businesses graduate to their own brick-and-mortar stores.
