Looks like we’ll have Jack Conway to kick around for another election cycle.
With the filing deadline looming next week, Conway announced today in Frankfort that he will run for re-election as Kentucky’s attorney general. Last fall, he lost his race for the U.S. Senate to Rand Paul.
According to a cn/2 story, Conway “has been trying to retire more than $770,000 in debt from last year’s U.S. Senate race, including more than $630,000 of his personal funds that he pumped into the campaign.”
Earlier this week, the C-J’s Joe Gerth speculated that Conway might not run, citing the grueling Senate campaign and time away from his family.
Hopkins County Attorney Todd P’pool is the only Republican candidate to file thus far, but that is likely to change. Several Democrats have announced their intention to run if Conway were to pass, but none have yet said they’d be willing to challenge Conway.
