LIBA to Host 8th Annual Louisville Brewfest on September 23rd

Louisville, KY (August 25, 2016) – The Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) will host the 8th Annual Louisville Brewfest on Friday, September 23rd from 4:00pm to 10:00pm at the Louisville Slugger Field, 401 East Main Street. The event will feature independent local and regional beer, wine and bourbon, as well as a variety of food vendors and PureTap® from the Louisville Water Company. Admission is $5, or free for designated drivers, and includes a souvenir cup. Attendees must be 21 or older to enjoy the beer, wine and bourbon. Festival goers also will have the opportunity to taste limited edition beers created especially for this event by four local VIPs through the “Hometown Beer-oes” program. Mayor Greg Fischer is working with Falls City Brewing to create “Louis XVI Imperial.” Chef Edward Lee is working with Monnik Beer Company to create “MW Saison,” John Timmons (Founder of LIBA and ear x-tacy) is working with Great Flood Brewing to create “beer x-tacy,” and JK McKnight is working with Goodwood Brewing Company to create “Capt. McKnight’s Rum Soaked Chocolate Blond.”
“Supporting local businesses is in our DNA and Louisville is lucky to have such a wealth of great breweries and distilleries from which to choose,” Fischer said. “Brewfest is a great way to support our local food and beverage scene, as well as supporting LIBA, our #1 voice for helping keep our dollars in the local economy.”
Participating local brewers at the Brewfest include 3rd Turn Brewing, Akasha Brewing Company, Apocalypse Brew Works, Bluegrass Brewing Company, Cumberland Brewery, Falls City Brewing Co., Goodwood Brewing Company, Great Flood Brewing Co., Monnik Brewing Company, New Albanian Brewing Company, Old Louisville Brewing, and Sterling Beer. Guest brewers from the region include Alltech Kentucky Ale, Blue Stallion Co., Country Boy Brewing, Ethereal Brewing Co., Tin Man Brewing Co., and West 6th Brewing from Lexington, Flat 12 Bierworks from Indianapolis, White Squirrel Brewery from Bowling Green, Braxton Brewing Co. from Covington and Dry Ground Brewing Co. from Paducah. Local wines from Horseshoe Bend Vineyard & Winery and Old 502 Winery also will be available, as well as bourbon from Heaven Hill Distilleries and brandy from Copper & Kings.
Brewfest admission includes an after party hosted by The Haymarket Whiskey Bar. Brewfest also is one of the capstone events of Louisville Craft Beer Week, taking placeSeptember 16-24, 2016.
