Flyover Film Festival prepares for take-off with pre-flight reception tonight

Louisville, KY., – The public is invited to celebrate local filmmaking with the Louisville Film Society and 21c Museum Hotel at a Pre-Flight Reception on Tuesday, July 17 in honor of the 10th annual Flyover Film Festival. The party will take place in the Atrium of the hotel from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. where guests will enjoy learning more about the eight films tied to Kentucky that will be screened during Flyover, Sunday July 22 – Friday July 27. Soozie Eastman, Executive Director of LFS, said “Our Pre-Flight event gives film lovers the opportunity to meet and mingle with many of the Kentucky filmmakers involved in creating these films including directors, cast and crew as well as check out teasers from the upcoming screenings that will take place at The Speed Cinema and The Brown Theatre.”

Merry-Kay Poe, Chairman of the Kentucky Film Commission, believes this year’s lineup at Flyover is indicative of the strength of the industry in Kentucky. “Better Start Running (Whipp Smart Productions, London Pacific Finance), which was filmed primarily in Louisville (under the name Monumental), created many jobs for Kentucky filmmakers and generated revenue for local businesses and the state. Smaller independent productions like City of Ali and In Our Bones celebrate the talent, creativity and spirit of our many filmmakers and artists from the Bluegrass. These smaller films also provide an opportunity for workforce training as Kentucky continues to expand its experienced crew base.”

The complimentary drinks are provided by Republic National Distributing Company along with Tito’s Vodka and Francis Ford Coppola Wines.
