Louisville, Ky., – Disney’s 2013 hit animated feature film “Frozen” helps kick off another year of Free Summer Movies at Iroquois Amphitheater on Saturday, May 9th.
“The Free Summer Movies have been successful every year. This is a unique way to offer free entertainment to the community in Iroquois Park Amphitheater, a state of the art outdoor facility,” says Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15).
Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s Snow Queen, Frozen tells the story of two sisters Princess Anna and Elsa; one fears her powers will do harm to the other and as a result unknowingly unleashes a harsh cold winter on their kingdom.
Frozen stars the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana.
“The Movies Under the Stars series is an important part of what we do out here at the amphitheater, and it couldn’t be possible without the support of Metro Council, particularly Marianne Butler,” says Mike Slaton of the Iroquois Amphitheater. “Our free, family friendly movies continue to grow in popularity, and it is a wonderful chance to serve the community, show off Iroquois Park, and let people know about all the events we do at the Iroquois Amphitheater.”
Joining Butler as sponsors this year are Council members Rick Blackwell (D-12) Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13), Dan Johnson (D-21) David Yates (D-25), Mary C. Woolridge (D-3), David James (D-6), Cindi Fowler (D- 14), Tom Owen (D-8) and Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5), the Citizens of Metro Council District 7, Steve Magre (D-10), Barbara Shanklin (D-2), David Tandy (D-4) and the Citizens of Metro Council District 9.
