Louisville, Ky., – Louisvillians are asked to bring a flashlight to Churchill Downs Saturday night, Oct. 3, to take part of Rochester Institute of Technology’s Big Shot photography project. Volunteers will be asked to use their flashlights to light up the Twin Spires.
Big Shot takes extended exposure nighttime photos of locals lighting iconic landmarks around the world. Churchill Downs will be the 31st landmark to be photographed and we want all of Louisville to be part of it.

To take the photo, Louisvillians will use their own flashlight (or camera flash unit) and shine it on a particular area of the racetrack while the photo is taken with an extended exposure. The event begins at 8 p.m. with photos taken after sunset around 9 p.m., rain or shine.
The event and parking are free. Participants will receive a free high resolution file of the photo and a free General Admission voucher for Churchill Downs’ Fall Meet.
