Renee Maloney of WLKY is reporting a new soul food restaurant in Louisville’s Russell neighborhood: Gigi’s Kitchen, which opened Sunday afternoon at 2300 W. Market St. for Easter lunch.
Fried Bologna sandwiches, a soul roll filled with smoked turkey, greens, and mac and cheese, and nearly a dozen sides to choose from, Gigi’s Kitchen offers a mix of classic dishes and new takes on old school favorites.
The Gigi’s Kitchen website (with menu) is here, and there’s also a Facebook page. Listed hours are 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
Seeing as Gigi’s is open at 2300 W. Market, it means that the second location of Chef Shaq Kitchen, which opened there in 2024, is not. However, the original location of Chef Shaq Kitchen downtown at 612 S. 5th St. remains serving and catering.
