I happened upon Anselmo’s, in the Highlands, for a late-night Hot Brown pizza a few weeks ago, and the food keeps bringing me back. Kenny Jeannette, who opened the restaurant last May featuring his Grandma’s Italian recipes, warned me on my second visit that the Italian Inferno would test my resistance to hot, hot spices. Fairly warned, Luke and I tried it anyway. He was right. So on our third visit I tried another spicy dish, the Rattlesnake Pasta, while Luke went with lasagna. It’s cozy and the staff is great, offering great advice (and warnings) about the menu. After that, I invited Luke, 14, to write his own review of what’s becoming his favorite restaurant.
So we became fans, and Kenny offered to give us a few gift cards to give away for an ad on the site. Go to our Facebook page and like the post there, and you could win some free grub there. Here’s how Luke saw it. . .
Anselmo’s Brings Everything to the Table
by Lucas Redding
Anselmo’s is an Italian restraint that is inspired by the owner’s (Kenny Jeannette) grandmother.

He has many of her recipes on the menu. The food is some of the best I have ever had. There is pizza, hoagies, pasta and lasagna. There are many varieties of pizza and the taste is fantastic. The most famous one is the Inferno. Appropriately named, the pizza is the hottest food me or my dad ever tried. We both love spicy food but we could only eat 3 slices.
It’s a good challenge, but eat at your own risk. The pasta is superb. Choices for everyone, regular meat sauce, marinara, alfredo, or for some heat there’s the Rattlesnake Pasta. They also have lasagna, and the Anselmo’s lasagna is just heavenly and just the right portion. They also have a variety of hoagies that range from meatball to Italian sausage.
The food isn’t the only thing they offer. Dad likes the beer selection, and they have half-price wine on Wednesdays. The environment is great with many TVs and a bar. It’s very family-friendly. There are also karaoke nights on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 to 3:00 pm. If it’s a nice night out you can eat outside and enjoy the outdoors.
