You already know LaToya Bradley from her evolving coffee bar concept Brew & Sip Express (1405 W. Broadway). It’s a Black-owned family business located in the mixed-use Gateway on Broadway development in Russell, serving breakfast and lunch items in addition to coffee, smoothies and drinks.

However, Bradley has another card up her sleeve: Grit & Griddle, set to debut in Audubon (905 Hess Lane) on February 20. She explained it all in a Facebook post, repeated below.

Be aware of limited weekend hours: Friday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Normally, I birth new business ideas in March…but listen—Lent wasn’t going to wait, and neither were y’all. So we’ve been in the kitchen getting the grease hot, seasoning the cast iron, and bringing the favorites back FIRST—because priorities.

Welcome to our newest concept: Grit & Griddle. We’ll be opening Fridays & Saturdays, just in time for your cravings:

  • Fish on Fridays – because Lent deserves Respect!
  • Chicken & Sweet Tea Waffles on Saturdays – because joy is also spiritual.
  • Yes, yes… we do have other menu items.

But you already know—we had to lead with the crowd favorites and warm your hearts (and stomachs) first. Come hungry. Come early. Come ready to say, “I knew it was gonna be good.”

Welcome to Grit & Griddle—where tradition meets a hot skillet. Opening 2/20 at noon, 905 Hess Lane. Friday 12-8, Sat 8am-3pm.
