Gubernatorial Candidate Gatewood Galbraith Dies

Gatewood Galbraith

Gatewood Galbraith, perennial candidate for Kentucky governor and advocate of legalization of marijuana, died last night. He was 64.

The news is making the media rounds as reported by his running mate, Dea Riley, in a Facebook post this morning about 9:30. It said:

Dear Friends I have just been notified that Gatewood passed away last night. I am heading to Lexington to be with his family. Please say a prayer for his family and friends and all those who loved him.

Gatewood brought plenty of levity to gubernatorial debates, especially going head-t0-head with Steve Beshear both in 2007 and 2011. His ideas always made sense, even when no one gave him a chance to ever be elected.
