“Hell or High Water” Brings WFPK’s Waterfront Wednesday to Headliners

One giant step! Walk the Moon from Ohio to you.

The first water rescue that I’m aware of in local concert history, Hell or High Water showcase will bring the music from the flooded Waterfront Wednesday indoors to Headliners Music Hall on Wednesday April 27.

Yes, the Lord may have been willin’ but the creek did rise. Meaning, the show must go on!
An impressive debut for the 2011 season, Walk the Moon, Sarah Jaffe and The Deloreans are rising stars that are just too damn hot to be challenged by rising water.

This 21-and-over show is free. Doors open and 7:00 p.m. and the bands strike up at 8:00 p.m.

As stated on the Louisville Public Media website:

“What began ten years ago as an enterprising labor of love to present free concerts to the community has become a thriving city institution, drawing thousands to Waterfront Park and helping Louisville secure an international award as a top city for festivals.”

Over the years, I’ve only missed a handful of these Wednesday evening concerts by the river and what I see, besides world-class live music and thousand or so of close personal old friends and new strangers, is the community support of public radio. So, hats off and a craft beer toast to WFPK and its loyal and ever-growing membership.

For younger fans there will be a special “Get Off My Lawn” gig in the Louisville Public Media performance studio Wednesday afternoon at 4pm. If you’re in the under 21 group of Waterfront Wednesday fans, this first come, first seated show and broadcast should fit the bill for you.

Now…all I need to know is, will there be corndogs?

See you on the Harbor Lawn for the May 25 return of Waterfront Wednesday!
