Hey Jude – WDRB Moves Redfield in, Emmick out

Jude Redfield will join Fox41

Jude Redfield, formerly of WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, has joined the Fox41 weather team, and Paul Emmick is out.

Multiple sources have told me the move has been in the works for a while. News director Barry Fulmer gave me the standard email response:  “Our company policy is that we do not discuss personnel issues with anyone outside of our building.”

Redfield, a WKU graduate, seems to be a major weather geek and was beloved in Indy, if his Facebook page is any indication. Though he left the station in March, he has continued to post weather-related status updates. Redfield won Emmys in 2006, 2007 and 2008, doing the mid-day and early evening weather for the NBC afffiliate. Before that, Redfield worked at stations in Norfolk, Va., Harrisburg, Ill. and Hopkinsville in Kentucky.

He wrote on April 10 that he would be starting his new job in Louisville “in a few weeks.”

Marc Weinberg will move from mornings to evenings, and Redfield will move into Weinberg’s spot.

WDRB's Paul Emmick

Emmick, a native of Owensboro, also studied at WKU. Before joining Fox41 he worked at an Evansville station and for The Weather Channel. He’s got a law degree as well.

As for why Emmick and his big voice are leaving, none of my sources seem to know, and the station isn’t saying.
