Hundreds of really smart people marched in Downtown LouisvilleKY March for Science Sunday

By Jackie Hollenkamp Bentley

Louisville, KY., – One day after most of the world held their respective marches, post-Thunder Louisville held its own March for Science. I, for one, am certainly NOT one of those really smart people, but I and my family did want to add our voices to those in support of science and send a message to this current administration to ignore the “alternative facts” and use some common sense — something that seems to be really lacking in this country lately.

After a few speeches from local scientists, future scientists and activists in front of Metro Hall, the march ensued up 5th Street, left on Main Street and on to the Kentucky Science Center where chants of “Science not Silence” could be heard blocks away. We then proceeded back down 6th Street and eventually returned to Metro Hall.

Here are just a few amateurish photos I took Sunday afternoon (except the first one):

I took a screenshot of this one off Twitter. Even though I didn't take it, this has to be one of my favorites of the day!

It may be too hard to make out, but the sign says "I can't believe we have to march for this".

The Star Wars geek in me and my child really appreciated this!
