I can’t believe you’ve never been to….

Even though I’ve lived most of my life in the Bluegrass State, I humbly admit that I, in fact, have never been to Keeneland. Every year around this time, I mention this to friends who stare at me in crazed bewilderment. Oh, I’ve been to Oaks and Derby, the Churchill Fall meet, the infield, even the nicer parts of the Clubhouse. But not Keeneland.

But this year, the BF is looking fill the Keeneland void in my Bluegrass State dance card. In researching when to go, I looked first to the great ambassador program at Maker’s Mark and their annual Redheads and Thoroughbreds event.  And alas! It is the 10th and final year for this event. This year will go down in history, I suppose, because the party (which benefits The Center for Women & Families) will double as Bill Samuels’ retirement shin dig.

There’s also a good deal on going to Keeneland with the UofL Alum folks. With so few weekends in the Keeneland Spring Meet, we’d better decide our plans soon.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on what kinds of tickets to buy, fun things I should not miss or any tips on the ponies?
