Your correspondent seeks to remain dispassionate, but this one is tough. As a New Albany resident, I’ve grown quite fond of the fish dip and oysters.

Thanks to everyone who made it a point to support us over the last 2.5 years at OUTCAST fish & oyster bar. The effort the OC team has made will not be forgotten. This current chapter made be closed, but this book is far from being over!
Yesterday Ian Hall, founder of Brand Hospitality, divulged that Outcast Fish & Oyster Bar (Main St., New Albany) closed after service on Saturday in favor of a pause; actually the word “closed” was not used. Rather, Hall said many options will be considered during the coming months, including bringing back Outcast in a modified configuration, or opening an entirely new concept in the present space (207 E. Main St.)
All 25 of Outcast’s employees have been reassigned to Hall’s two other downtown New Albany restaurants, The Exchange and Brooklyn and The Butcher; in addition, Outcast’s popular raw bar will be incorporated into the program at Brooklyn (which lies just around the corner).
So: Outcast is closed, for now. Ask at Exchange and Brooklyn if you have Outcast gift cards. And, we’ll be back when “next” comes into view.
