Jeffersonville, IN (March 21, 2018) – Producers of the WAVE 3 News Abbey Road on the River are working with local educator and acclaimed musician Jecorey “1200” Arthur to present a special show to celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Hey Jude,” one of The Beatles most iconic songs. Variations on Hey Jude, arranged and produced by Arthur, will feature an ensemble cast of more than 50 dancers, actors, and musicians, spanning from professional touring artists to local elementary school students. The 30-minute concert will explore renditions of the song in various musical styles including country, salsa, bluegrass, hip hop, and electronic dance music, and will feature the Louisville Dance Alliance, the University of Louisville Percussion Ensemble, DJ K-Dogg, and many more.
“Hey Jude is by far one of The Beatles’ most recognizable songs,” says Arthur. “It has lived well beyond their years and will continue to be an essential piece of art for our world in centuries to come. The Beatles represented much more than their musical genre; they represented humanity. This 50th anniversary performance is going to celebrate and showcase how transcendent Hey Jude is through a multi-cultural experience.”
Released in August of 1968, the Beatles recorded “Hey Jude” during the sessions for their self-titled double album, commonly known as “the White Album”. The song’s original title was “Hey Jules”, and it was written by Paul McCartney with intention of comforting John Lennon’s son, Julian, from the stress of his parents’ separation.
