Louisville’s Bike to Work Challenge is a friendly competition for Bike To Work Month to encourage people in the Louisville area to use bikes for transportation! Each trip to work or errands count as one point. Most points wins! Organize a team of your colleagues, neighbors, friends, etc. Only the top five scorers in a team will count toward the challenge total. Who will win the coveted Golden Handlebars and be recognized before the whole city at Bike to Work Day, May 20 at Fourth Street Live? Start pedaling. It could be you!
New to bike commuting? Map a safer, lower-traffic route: At RIDE THE CITY and get tips on bike commuting here: BIKE TO WORK INFO
This year’s Challenge will work just like last year’s:
- First form or join a team of around five co-workers, friends, neighbors, or whoever. Teams can be any size, but only the top 5 scorers will count towards your team’s point total.
- All team members will register through our user-friendly Bike to Work Challenge Website under a team name you create (creativity is encouraged).
- Each one-way transportation trip by bicycle from May 1 to May 19 is worth one point, whether it’s riding to work, to the store, to appointments, to a friend’s house, to the Derby, etc.
- Teams build points as the month progresses, and on May 20th, at the city’s Bike to Work Day celebration, the team with the most points wins the golden handlebars and the reputation as being the baddest bikers in Louisville!!!
Have we enticed you? Are you excited about bicycling? Are you ready to form a team and sign up to win fame, glory, and adoration? Terrific! Here’s what to do.
Creating a team is easy:
- Go to www.greenlightride.com
- Either log-in or click “register” in the upper-right hand corner for a new account
- Fill in the form and click “submit”
- Write down your username and password so you don’t forget
- Navigate the menus to Teams > Create Team
