Louisville, KY (January 5, 2017) – You’ve proved you know how to shop local for holiday gift giving, but now let’s talk business. Where do you buy your printer paper? Who does your taxes? How do you market your service or product? Do you shop local for these services also? An upcoming event will give attendees the chance to ‘walk the talk’ and find quality, local vendors for their business purchases.
Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), an alliance of over 850 local and independent businesses, will host the second annual Louisville Local Business expo on Thursday, January 19 from 1:00pm-4:30pm at the Mellwood Arts Center’s Picasso Room. The expo will showcase over 50 local and independent “Business to Business” companies, giving business purchasing decision makers the opportunity to explore local options for their needs. Admission is free with a business card, and the first 150 people to register online will receive a “Local Love” gift bag.

The event will also feature three local business owners sharing “TED” style talks to inspire business owners on their road to success.
1:30pm – The Storyteller in You
Stories told by excellent communicators create sticky memories in the listener’s brain.  They generate imagery that goes beyond normal corporate jargon and take us deeper into our emotions. Madison Cork is a pro at creating great storytellers and will share the simple ways to bring out the storyteller in you!
2:30pm – Turning the Ship Around
How reconnecting to mission and community can reinvigorate your business. Kentucky Shakespeare was on the brink of collapse before Matt Wallace took the helm and applied core business principles to bring it to a record breaking season the following year.
3:30pm – Being Your Own Super Fan
Darnell Ferguson, owner of SuperChefs, struggled for much of his life. In this talk, he shares how with the right believe in himself, he overcame trials, tribulations and barriers to become a successful business owner.
Making a shift in our purchasing habits can have big effects on our local economy, keeping more dollars circulating locally. This applies to our personal and business decisions. A market shift of just 10% to local independent businesses would retain an additional $416 million in our regional economy, which helps all of Louisville businesses.
The event is presented by DMLO CPAs and sponsored by Total Office Products and Service, Commonwealth Financial Advisors, Tilford Dobbins and Schmidt PLLC, Streamline Payments, Evan Williams Bourbon experience, along with C&H Audio Visual Services, eyedia, design it again, FocalPoint Business Coaching of Kentucky, Insider Louisville, Living Spaces by Lyn, Louisville Magazine, Louisville Public Media, Mirazon, One Thing Marketing, Snookie’s Kookies, USA Printing & Promotions and Wimsett & Company.
