LIBA’s annual Buy Local Fair lands again this Sunday (May 31)

The Louisville Independent Business Alliance’s (LIBA) annual Buy Local Fair returns this Sunday (May 31) from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. at Lynn Family Stadium.

The event is free, although stadium parking runs $10 per vehicle, with a portion of proceeds benefiting LIBA.

Now more than ever, amid a profusion of chains and franchise concepts, LIBA’s mission is critical.

The mission of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) is to cultivate the unique community character of the Metro Louisville area by promoting locally-owned, independent businesses and to educate citizens on the value of purchasing locally.

Accordingly, the Buy Local Fair is a celebration of localism, featuring local retailers, non-profits, artists, live music, food and beverages, with family-friendly activities.

Interestingly (and something your laggard of a correspondent entirely missed when announced in April), also being featured at the Buy Local Fair is the relaunch of Louisville Originals, a gift card program that originally appeared during the late 1990s.

The Lane Report explains (April 27):

While an official relaunch event will take place at a later date, consumers will be able to begin purchasing Louisville Originals gift cards online starting on 502’s Day, offering an immediate way to support local businesses. Participating restaurants so far include The B.A. Colonial, Bristol Bar & Grille, Ciao Ristorante, Eden & Kissi, Flanagan’s Ale House, Galaxie, Green District Salads, Limón y Sal, Lou Lou, Mayan Café, MozzaPi, Osteria Italian Seafood, The Pine Room, and Shack in the Back BBQ.

For complete information, head over to LIBA’s website: Buy Local Fair 2026, and don’t forget the local multiplier effect.

The Multiplier Effect results from the fact that independent locally owned businesses recirculate a far greater percentage of revenue locally compared to absentee-owned businesses. In other words, spending locally creates more local wealth and jobs.
