Loiusville’s Premium Compost Sale Returns this weekend

Louisville, Ky., – Brightside’s bi-annual compost sale and fundraiser will be held Saturday, October 10 and October 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Outer Loop Recycling and Disposal Facility located at 2673 Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky 40219.

Brightside’s community partner, Waste Management of Kentucky, generously donated the organic, plant-based compost again this fall.  All proceeds from the sale will benefit Brightside’s beautification and sustainability efforts.

Compost can be purchased by the bag or by the scoop.  Fees are $2.50 per bag, or $35.00 per Bobcat scoop.  A discount coupon is available by visiting the Brightside webpage athttp://louisvilleky.gov/government/brightside/brightside-and-waste-management-kentuckys-compost-sale.

Brightside’s premium compost is a mixture of leaves, chipped tree limbs, and yard waste from various cities, composted into an earthy, well mixed organic amendment that any home gardener would be happy to use on their garden. The greatest value of compost is in the organic matter, which can act as a nutrient buffer and improve the soil structure for a year or two after application.
