LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One of the USL’s stingiest defenses will return six stalwarts for the 2016 campaign, Louisville City FC announced on Monday. Coach James O’Connor’s team finished 14-8-6 in its historic inaugural season, allowing just 35 goals en route to the Eastern Conference final.

The Club exercised team options on goalkeepers Scott Goodwin and Greg Ranjitsingh, full backs Sean Reynolds and Enrique Montano, and central defenders Tarek Morad and Conor Shanosky. The six returning defensive players combined for 9,465 minutes of action for Louisville City in 2015.

“Each one of these returning players are important components in our team,” O’Connor said. “They each made massive impacts last season and will do the same in 2016. They know and understand the expectations of this Club, and I know they cannot wait to get back to work in front of our fantastic supporters.”

Scott Goodwin, GK

Goodwin will return to his No. 1 role in the Louisville City net, where he made 27 starts in 2015. The 24-year-old shot stopper made 87 saves with a 1.19 goals-allowed average.

He helped lead Louisville City to all 14 of the Club’s victories — including eight clean sheets.

The 6-foot tall netminder ranked in the league’s top-10 for goals-against average, save percentage, saves and shutouts.

Greg Ranjitsingh, GK

Louisville City’s backup goalkeeper is returning for a second season, maintaining the Club’s consistency in goal. Goodwin and Ranjitsingh combined to start every game and play every minute of Louisville City’s 2015 season.

Ranjitsingh, a 22-year-old Canadian, made one start with a 2.00 goals-allowed average in 2015. The 6-foot-2 backstop finished with a .333 saves percentage.

Sean Reynolds, D

Reynolds, a 25-year-old left back and central defender, returns to Louisville City after making six starts and 16 appearances in 2015. He advanced into an attacking position to launch two shots on goal, while helping maintain City’s position with the fifth-lowest goals-allowed average.

The fourth-year professional spent time with VSI Tampa Bay FC and Iceland’s FH before joining Louisville City last season.
