Louisville, Ky., – On the heels of this week’s news from GE that it’s returning its Zoneline heating and air conditioning line to Louisville’s Appliance Park (See October 7th story), the city is offering training to those interested in applying for the new jobs.

The new line will require 100 operators, including 75 new hires. The best candidates for these jobs, which start at $15.51 per hour, are individuals with Certified Production Technician training, or previous manufacturing experience.

The CPT training is available at no charge through Kentucky Manufacturing Career Center, and successful completion puts individuals first in line for the jobs at GE, as well as other manufacturers across the region.

New classes start Nov. 2 in Louisville – and, for the first time, in Shelby and Bullitt counties – with mandatory orientation sessions in October, which is also National Manufacturing Month.

“This free training is a wonderful opportunity for our citizens to get the skills they need for good jobs with highly competitive wages and excellent benefits,” said Fischer.

For more information, people should call the Career Center at 276-9711 ext. 4001, and ask about the upcoming Certified Production Technician Certificate (CPT) classes.
