Louisville, Ky., – With a few pounds of a hammer to seal a barrel, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer officially opened today the city’s newest distillery, Kentucky Peerless Distilling. Located at 120 North 10th Street, Kentucky Peerless will now begin offering tours of its facility.
Corky Taylor, the great grandson of Kentucky Peerless’ former owner, Henry Kraver, said he wanted to bring back the legendary family business after being dormant for nearly 100 years.
“My great-grandfather Henry Kraver brought a distiller in 1889,” Taylor told WDRB.com. “He was making 20 barrels a day. When he shut it down in 1917, he was making 200 barrels a day. He was one of the largest distilleries in the state of Kentucky.”
Currently, the distillery is selling its Lucky Moonshine and will begin offering it’s Kentucky Peerless Rye label in the Winter of 2016 and its Henry Kraver Kentucky Bourbon in the Winter of 2018.
