(LOUISVILLE, KY) – Flying Axes is officially opening its doors (and axes) to the public with a grand opening festival on Saturday, July 29, from 1-7PM.
Flying Axes (Louisville’s first indoor axe-throwing venue) is hosting an all-day axe throwing festival to celebrate its grand opening. There will be music, food trucks and plenty of beer, including a beer truck from Covington-based Braxton Brewery with a few Louisville brews on tap. Festival goers can also choose from a wide array of canned beer, from American Classics to local favorites. Admission is FREE.
“We’re pumped to open our doors and bring axe throwing to Louisville. We also can’t wait to show the world Flying Axes’ exclusive digital scoreboards. They’re literally a game changer.” — Dave Durand, CEO of Flying Axes
10-minute axe throwing sessions
The highlight of the festival will be 10-minute axe throwing sessions. These sessions are designed to give new throwers a feel for the basics, and stick their first axe. Sessions cost $10 and will take place at 15-minute intervals throughout the day.

ABOUT AXE THROWING
Axe throwing is a recreational sport, in which players compete by throwing axes at wooden targets. Axe throwing is a popular team-building activity for businesses, churches and other organizations. It’s also an ideal activity for special celebrations, like bachelor(ette) parties, graduations, birthdays, or simply a fun night out with friends and family. Flying Axes will also offer an axe throwing league starting in the early fall of 2017.
ABOUT FLYING AXES
Flying Axes is Louisville’s first axe throwing venue. (Additional locations in other cities to be announced soon.) Flying Axes is also introducing a new technology to the sport — electronic scoreboards, which feature a throwback design and a mobile-app controller.
