LouisvilleKY’s hoLOUdays Contest Winner Receives $1,000 Prize

Louisville, KY (January 30, 2017) – Louisville native Cammie Cox is this year’s winner of the Buy Local, Win $1000: hoLOUdays Contest. Cammie received her prize of $1,000 in gift cards to local businesses of her choice on Friday at Quest Outdoors, 4600 Shelbyville Road. The contest is part of an annual holiday campaign coordinated by the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) that encourages residents to shop locally during the holidays. A Clifton resident, Cammie plans to spend her prize with Quest Outdoors, Red Hog, Blue Dog Bakery, Carmichael’s, Footworks and The Wine Rack.
LIBA launched the Buy Local, Win $1000: hoLOUdays Contest in 2008 to create awareness about the importance of buying locally, and to give local consumers an incentive to do so. This year’s contest received over 2,500 entries and was sponsored by Feeder’s Supply and Heine Brothers’ Coffee. Shoppers who collected receipts from five LIBA member businesses were entered to win a $1,000 shopping spree at any LIBA member businesses.

“I shop local as much as I can, but even I was surprised when I realized there are nearly 900 locally owned, independent businesses in LIBA,” said Cammie. “That’s a lot of places with a lot of choices! I can find pretty much everything I need at locally owned stores.”

“It’s great to see people have fun with this contest and explore new businesses they’ve never been to,” says Jennifer Rubenstein, LIBA director. “All while spreading the message about remembering your local businesses during the holiday season.”
