Louisville, Ky., – Louisville’s favorite concert series continues Wednesday, July 26, 2017. The WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® Concert Series is a monthly free concert on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville Waterfront Park, located next to the Big Four® Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge.
This concert will feature STRAND OF OAKS, LOW CUT CONNIE and ZACH LONGORIA PROJECT. It’s sponsored by Goose Island Brewing Company, Kroger, Republic Bank, Passport Health Plan, and Friends of the Waterfront. Additional support comes from Louisville City Football Club,
Live Nation and Allstate.
“Timothy Showalter, a.k.a. Strand of Oaks, hasn’t led the easiest adult life. Divorce, homelessness, a serious car accident that led to several broken ribs; it’s been a struggle, much of it making its way into his three previous albums. With the fourth, _Hard Love,_ he continues to express the trials of everyday life through his unique brand of psychedelic electro-folk.” — Chris Ingalls, _Pop Matters_
“Their high profile fans and success as a rock group stems from Low Cut Connie’s perfect marriage of roots rock’n’roll, because at their core is one Jerry Lee Lewis like American in Adam Weiner and a British multi-instrumentalist in Dan Finnimore. So you have best of ‘The British Invasion’ and blue blooded American rock’n’roll all wrapped into one Philadelphia rock band.” — Colt Jensen, _Huffington Post_
It’s R&B at its core, but Zach Longoria Project performs their special brand of “Kentucky Fried Soul” fronted by two incredible vocalists, Zach and Gina C.
The Big Four® Lawn “opens” at 5pm, and the music begins promptly at 6pm. The remaining dates for the 2017 season are August 30 and September
27.
To alleviate parking congestion caused by the KY/IN Bridges project, a free trolley service, courtesy of Republic Bank, will be offered between
Witherspoon and the Big Four Lawn for people who park West of I-65. THE REPUBLIC BANK EASY TROLLEY will run a continuous loop between 6:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Outside alcohol is prohibited. No coolers, glass or pets allowed in the event area of the Big Four Lawn and the adjacent
park areas. For more information, please call (502) 814-6519.
About WFPK Waterfront Wednesday®
The Waterfront Development Corporation (WDC) and WFPK first partnered in 2002 to produce an innovative concert series that showcased local and emerging national recording artists as heard on radio station 91.9 WFPK.
Each free concert attracts large audiences to mingle, dance and enjoy the river in a family-friendly park atmosphere with a cash bar and upscale festival fare. The event has become a thriving city institution, drawing thousands to Waterfront Park and helping Louisville secure an international award as a top city for festivals. In addition, the Southeast Tourism Society selected WFPK Waterfront Wednesday® as one of their Top 20 Events.
