LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women’s basketball has been selected as a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and will host first and second round games at the KFC Yum! Center on Friday and Sunday.
The Cardinals will play in the Albany regional and will open the postseason on Friday at noon with No. 16 seed Robert Morris (22-10).
Louisville (29-3) is making its 22nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament – ninth straight – and 11th under head coach Jeff Walz.
The Cardinals are coming off their second straight Atlantic Coast Conference regular season championship and are ranked No. 5 in both the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches poll. Their 29 wins already rank fourth all-time in program history.
The Cardinals and Colonials will be followed by No. 8 seed Michigan (21-11) and No. 9 seed Kansas State (21-11), which tips at 2 p.m. ET.
The winner of the first round games play on Sunday.
