Louisville, Ky. (October 10, 2017) – The Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL) is working alongside the city of Louisville and its leaders to highlight the area’s talented, vibrant and diverse workforce as part of the city’s proposal to attract Amazon’s second U.S. headquarters (HQ2) to the region. YPAL has published an online petition in support of Amazon choosing Louisville for HQ2.
The organization seeks to accumulate thousands of signatures between October 10-15 to demonstrate community support for the project, and anyone from the Greater Louisville area who supports Amazon HQ2 locating to the region may sign the petition. The deadline for the city to submit its proposal is October 19.
“YPAL recognizes that Amazon’s HQ2 would have tremendous economic impact on the city and would change the landscape of Louisville for decades to come by bringing tens of thousands of high-paying positions to our region,” said Drew Eckman, president of YPAL. “Securing a U.S. headquarters of this size would enhance our region through job growth, talent attraction and increased wages, all of which align with YPAL’s mission of attracting and retaining quality talent in our area.”
YPAL was organized in 1999 and has grown to become the premier young professional organization in the Louisville community. Today, YPAL serves over 900 members and offers a variety of social and professional opportunities.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for the community to voice their support for a highly-publicized project,” said Eckman. “We encourage the community to help spread the word about the petition by going to YPAL’s social media channels and sharing our social posts with their personal and professional networks.”
Supporters may sign the petition in support of bringing Amazon H2Q to Louisville at change.org/p/louisville-bring-amazon-2-lou. The petition will also be easily accessible via the organization’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
