Mothers get into Zoo Free Mother’s Day

 

Louisville, KY., – Mothers get free general admission to the Louisville Zoo on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14, courtesy of McDonald’s® Restaurants of Kentuckiana. The day includes Zoo keeper talks featuring the Zoo’s animal moms and a scavenger hunt. The first 500 moms receive a free goody bag.

McDonaldland® characters Birdie, Grimace and Hamburglar will make appearances from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Throo the Zoo

May 13

The wildest 5K run/walk in town is May 13 — Throo the Zoo 5K Run/Walk presented by McDonald’s Restaurants of Kentuckiana and Norton Audubon Hospital.  All of the proceeds from the Throo the Zoo 5K help to fund Zoo education and animal care programs. Let your imagination run wild and dress in your favorite animal costume! Runners with the most creative costume will receive a prize pack. Runners and walkers can register online now at louisvillezoo.org/throo.

 

Storybook Character Day

May 20 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Pete the Cat, Llama Llama, Curious George, Rainbow Fish, Mama and Papa Berenstain Bear and Mouse (from “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”) as well as McDonaldland® characters Birdie®, Grimace® and Hamburglar® will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Wings of the World Bird Show

Opens May 20

 

Wings of the World Bird Show returns this summer to the Metazoo stage. This “free flight” presentation weaves conservation messages with behaviors and personal stories about the animals. Shows may include a bateleur eagle, black vulture, Andean condor, sarus crane, kookaburra or rose-breasted cockatoo. The show is written and created by Joe Krathwohl, aka The Birdman® and produced by Birds n Beasts Inc. It is scheduled to start May 20 with multiple shows daily and is free with Zoo admission or membership.
